Ave Maria Grotto – Cullman, AL

“The Ave Maria Grotto consists of a huge main grotto surrounded by 125 miniature structures of biblical scenes, famous buildings from around the world, and Marian apparition sites. Often referred to as ‘Little Jerusalem,’ the four acre park is the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk who built the first replicas in 1912 as a hobby to pass time while working in the monastery powerhouse shoveling coal into the furnaces.”
